Section 5 of 13

Entries and exits

How the device knows whether someone is arriving or leaving, and what happens after a correction in the panel.

There is no separate entry and exit button on the reader. Direction follows from the order: a person's first tap is an entry, the second an exit, the third an entry again. The panel builds reports the same way.

What counts is the order of a PERSON's taps, not a card's. Someone with two cards has one sequence of entries and exits.

Presenting the same card again

So that one passage is not recorded twice, the device ignores the same card for a set time — 5 seconds out of the box, adjustable from 0 (off) up to an hour.

  • A card left lying on the reader: silence and no light, so the device does not beep in a loop.
  • A deliberate second tap within the window: white LED and two short beeps. That is confirmation the reader works but nothing was recorded.

Corrections from the panel

Punches can be added and removed by hand — somebody forgot their card, somebody tapped twice. The device immediately recalculates the direction of that person's later taps, so adding a missing entry does not flip the rest of the day.

When something drifts out of step

Settings contain a full recalculation of directions from the whole history. It is a repair tool, not a routine — in normal operation you will never need it.
