Section 4 of 13
Employees and cards
How to read a card number, tie it to a person, and decide who may present a card at all.
Reading a card number
You do not have to copy numbers off the packaging. The device reads them for you.
- 1
In the panel, switch on card reading mode.
- 2
Present the card. A white LED and five short beeps mean the number has been read and is waiting in the panel.
- 3
Enter the name and save. In this mode the tap is NOT written to the attendance record.
Reading mode switches itself off after two minutes, so one left on by accident cannot stop attendance being recorded.
One person, several cards
If somebody carries a card and a fob, add both entries under EXACTLY the same name. The device groups cards by name, so entries and exits are counted as one sequence — entering with the card and leaving with the fob still make one shift.
Who may present a card
- Any card
- Every tap is recorded. A card that is not on the list appears in the records as unknown — convenient during rollout, while the list is still incomplete.
- Listed cards only
- A card outside the employee list is refused: red LED, two low tones, nothing recorded and nothing opened. Choose this if the device controls a lock.
Phones, watches and payment cards
Apple Pay and Google Wallet present a different, random number every time — deliberately, so that readers cannot track the owner. Such a number cannot be assigned to a person, because next time it will be different.
The device recognises those numbers and refuses them: red LED and two low tones. This is not a fault — if it accepted them, every brush of a watch would open the door and add another unknown card to the report.
The reset card
One card can be designated as a reset card. Presented to the reader, it restores the factory hotspot name, the factory passwords and clears the administrator second factor, then the device restarts. Employees, attendance records and all other settings stay.
